Liposuction
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical operation. It is not a weight loss operation. It may be an option for individuals who want to reduce bulges of fat that have resisted diet and exercise. Dr Randle uses a tumescent technique with PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction) system. This offers the option for the removed fat to be grafted (transferred) to other areas. (see fat grafting section).
Depending on the volume to be removed and transferred, the procedure is performed as a day procedure or overnight stay. Small incisions are used to extract fat with a cannula. Elastic compression garments are usually put on after surgery and worn for up to 5 weeks. The results are dependent on the degree of skin shrinkage and amount of remaining fat.
